Gashgai rug woven by the famous tribe that is from around Shiraz city in central Farse province of Iran.
The rug is woven in Turkish knot. It is woven with wool pile on wool warp. The rug bends and folds well due to its wool foundation but the Turkish knot which is double knot holds it together firmly. The wool comes from the tribal wool production and it is dyed with tribal secret dyes. It is mainly vegetable dyes but the tribe likes to use some aniline dyes that give a special effect. This rug is around 66 years old.
